Farah, Thank you for taking the time to write this and explain some of the history of Finnish and the idiomatic expression. I am interested to learn the lack of he/she in Finnish. That is really cool. My mom (English speaker) often talks about life being like an onion with many layers-meaning things are often more multifaceted and complex than they seem at surface level. It is really neat to learn the Finnish expression, especially since I have an English touchpoint for it, too. Also, I think your mom is right. ❤
