It’s true that as a Brown, quirky writer with a laid-back fashion sense (too-big sweatshirts over a pair of broken-in sweatpants), I’ve had trouble connecting with lithe, blonde, professional, working moms in designer yoga pants and manicured nails.
Haha. I'm white and don't connect with this type of mom easily either. My unkempt hair and sloppy clothes with lack of giving an eff about keeping up with the Jones's seems to turn them off. I'm sure they're not all like this but there's a different barrier based on clothing alone.
