Interesting article, Eric! As a woman, what speaks to me most about this is something getting lost in the handoff from older generations to ours (Gen Xer here, too). When I went to work in a manual labor job at the botanic garden, I found the strength of my women ancestors--I am sure of this. As my muscles grew and my inner grit began to show outwardly, I wondered how I'd not known it before--and am so thankful that I did get to know it.
