Thank you, Pete, for taking the time to lay this out! I've never been an athlete. The closest I got was when I ran (very slowly) a half-marathon and a couple 5ks (yay). I loved runner's high but was beat often from training. I was fit--maybe even too lean.
I've felt my best when attending yoga and pilates classes (before they were all the rag), doing salsa videos in my living room and Dance, Dance Revolution, later on.
Walking does seem to be the best exercise to me as well. Although, I need to figure out the weight thing as a 40+ woman. I detest exercise that feels like exercise though...haha.
This has given me a lot to think about and inspired me to finally take the walk/s I've been talking about taking for weeks now. :)
