Seattle, Washington was a city you’d heard of but never visited, recognized its Space Needle but seldom spoke of, and maybe knew that it was the birthplace of Jimi Hendrix. What it wasn’t was the place any tastemaker, music critic, or fan would’ve guessed to have been the place that turned the music world upside down and carve a massive chunk out for itself in the history of modern music. But that’s exactly what it became.
